And we're online!

So I finally took the jump and bought this domain you're reading this post from, leasing it for two years and several months of hosting costs. I'm currently using NearlyFreeSpeech.net for their static website hosting. I just deposit a certain amount of money, configure and buy the domain, then upload files. It's as simple as could be.

The only thing better than this would be hosting my websites on my own hardware, but that involves getting past my ISP's CGNAT, and that's gonna be a an entirely new can of worms. Gonna need to do that eventually, though. Something like running a pagekite front-end on a VPS somewhere would be just the thing.

Once that's been set up, it's just a matter of helping comrades selfhost services and they pay for their own domain names. Donations can help keep said frontend running, if it catches on. There needs to be more DIY tech from places that aren't anglophone nations.
