I survived Philippine Bureaucracy
The past two days have seen me do the death march that is processing any public documentation in the Philippines. In particular, getting listed under the National ID system and registering to vote for the upcoming shitshow that is the 2022 Philippine Presidential Elections.
Shit's messed up. So much cost in time and effort to get basic services. And yes, we are owed those services, Government is the only service provider where we do not have a choice as to whether we pay them. Either in taxes, data or time, we have no choice but to pay for their services. Like a mafia whose turf is an entire nation.
On a personal level, being outside in the presence of jostling crowds wears me out. Not sure if it's always been this way or the lockdown caused my brain to act funny.
Here's hoping the bureaucrats running the Natl Id system don't fuck up security. It's only a matter of time.
