Haunted
There is an argument to be made about ghosts and other disembodied spirits of the departed symbolize the continued after-effects caused by the actions of those long gone. Seen in that way, we're all haunted in some form or another. We carry the weight of the all the victories and the sins of uncountable generations throughout history.
But we don't even need to go that far to see the consequences of the past catch up to us. As a fuckup myself, I know all too well what it means to get my shit kicked in for something I've done in the past. My face is old friends with the one-two punch combo of getting blindsided by the immediate and near-term consequences of my mistakes, and then the realization of the exact depth of how much my actions (or inaction) has fucked up the people I care about.
So yes, I'm haunted. Absolutely surrounded by the ghosts of my own screwups.
