Card Games, Trick-Taking
Requires
- 4 players
- standard 52-card deck with the jokers removed.
Goal
win the most tricks until the cards run out.
Tricks
the game is divided into rounds or "tricks".
During the first round, the players draw four cards from the deck and the one that draws the highest value card becomes the first dealer. the dealer then shuffles the cards and gives each player four cards.
Each round, the dealer plays a card from their hand and the other players must "follow suit" by playing a card of the same suit. the player that plays the highest value card becomes the dealer in the next round, where they give each player one card each.
Players may choose to skip a round, especially if they do not have a card of the right suit.
the winner of each trick or round is listed along side the winning card on a sheet of paper that the players can refer to in order to formulate a strategy.
Faster games may be played with the players aiming to win 3 or 4 tricks first.
