Transport strike today
Transport labor groups, namely jeepney operators and drivers, are out on strike today to protest against the deadline of the jeepney modernization program , which personally, felt a bit rushed.
I'm still pleasantly surprised after all this time that among the best organized labor groups in the Philippines is the transport sector. But I guess it makes sense if you've been here for a while. Jeepney drivers know each other. They can rely on each other if they need things especially in the middle of the road. This naturally builds a sense of camaraderie among people.
I just hope we're able to generalize this to the rest of the Filipino working class, the times ahead aren't going to get easier, and we all need the help we can get.
