Countereconomies
A Counter-economy is an economy that runs parallel to, and sometimes in opposition to, the host economy it finds itself in.
Black Markets as Counter-Economies
While I wouldn’t take all Black Markets as being a step in the right direction, it is an economy whose operations are in opposition to the nation/s they find themselves operating.
It is important to take note of the difference between “Crime” and “Harm”:
Not paying taxes is a crime, but kidnapping someone in order to sell them off as slaves is human harm.
Informal Markets as Counter-Economies
Maybe a better place to look at is how people fulfill their needs outside of the influence of the state or the megacorporations and political dynasties that support it. Subsistence farmers that grow what they eat and eat what they grow without paying taxes on the produce, the musician getting paid in cash for playing at a bar owned by a friend, those kinds of things.
It just needs to expand and have a common overlapping vision of what kind of world they want to live in.
A revolutionary counter economy?
An economy composed of
- cooperatively-run
- does not pay taxes nor deal with megacorps
- fulfills a need in their immediate community
- preferrably helps other workers form their own coops
- preferrably helps other workers perform strikes
